family friend undecided romantic interest

The Doctor Doctor Who

"I want Clara Oswald, safe, alive, and returned to me immediately. You bring her back. You do that. You do that now. Unharmed. Unhurt. Alive."

Eternal, intergalactic bestie, and the platonic love of Clara's life. The two would go anywhere and do anything for one another, with a desperate codependency that can be astronomically disastrous. Here in MoM, however, Clara has been attempting to impress on him that she's no longer his companion - they're equals now, matched in immortality and cleverness, and she has a right to endanger herself. The stabilizers have come off her bike, and she's ready to explore what they can accomplish together, without their bickering for superiority.

Hint: it isn't much different from what they accomplished before, i.e. getting thrown into jail for trespassing, or stranded in deserts wearing just pajamas.

🎶
Cosima Neihaus Orphan Black

"Hey. You're not weird. You're incredible. You think a complicated story is gonna keep me away? I love complicated stories."

Clara and Cosima met in captivity on a Soviet submarine, and fell for one another over oxygen tanks and stiff-necked naps. They were a perfect match made in Antarctica - a curious geneticist, and a charming biological anomaly - and started dating almost immediately after their rescue.

Their relationship was idyllic for many months, living in a De Chima apartment with their somewhat unofficially adopted daughter, Brianna. Over the summer, however, they started having conflicts over Clara's reckless self-endangerment, and Cosima's lack of honesty about her genetic identicals. While they overcame those troubles, and are currently renting a house together in the suburbs, Clara is still looking for a way to further normalize their life here, into the safe and quiet future most humans long for.

🎶
Brianna Gone

"Bigfoot isn't real, Clara."

Brianna, AKA "The Breeze", is the rough-and-tumble spitfire of a daughter that Clara always hoped she'd have - though, the super speed isn't something she foresaw. They met within minutes of the Brianna's arrival, and Clara treated the dramatically underfed girl to lunch. In the months since, it's been hard at times to tell who's taking care of whom. Brianna has her own room at Clara's, with three meals a day and someone to hug her good night. But caring for someone so deeply and completely also has its benefits, as unofficial adoptive motherhood has given Clara one more reason to keep herself safe and out of trouble. Brianna brings purpose and worth to her time here, and she wishes she could hold her close forever.

🎶
Max Caulfield Life is Strange

"But you're a good person. You're sweet, and brave, and you helped me even though you barely knew me. I'll remember you."

An unbelievably brave young lady, and an even braver companion. She loves fiercely (though her girlfriend is a bit... interesting), always believes in the best of mankind, and Clara often finds herself wishing she still had that optimism. She trusts Max with her secrets, and she was one of the first people to find out about Clara's little heartbeat problem. Additionally, she proved an outstanding carer for the Doctor when he lost his memories of Clara early in 2016. If something were to happen to Clara permanently, she would absolutely trust Max to look after her dearest friend.

🎶
Sarissa Theron Original Character

"You make Cosima lose someone she loves because of your reckless bullshit, then I'll set up a loop of jazzercise videos over your grave."

60% antagonism, 10% grave concern, and 30% complete nonsense. These two met when Sarissa knocked on Clara's door and whipped out a gun, accusing her (incorrectly) of having kidnapped Cosima and Alison, and the months since have been equally ridiculous. Clara and Sarissa have precisely the wrong things in common - they're both reckless, sharp-tongued, and willing to die for the first good cause. They'll bicker about anything at the drop of a hat, from the existential merits of sugar gliders to Clara's complete nonchalance about death. And in the end, they'll probably go down trying to jump in front of a bullet for one another.

🎶
Sarah Manning Orphan Black

"Well, none of us want anybody else dying for us, okay? Christ. "

Though she met Sarah over the network during the Russian submarine excursion, Clara didn't meet her in person until many months later, when an injury on the job necessitated a bullet removal. Sarah valiantly did not throw up, and the two wound up lightly bonding over motherhood. They share not only a deep concern for Cosima's welfare, but also a reckless side that isn't always in their best interests.

After her first fight with Cosima, Clara fled to Sarah's apartment, demonstrating her growing trust. The two briefly kissed, causing some lasting discomfort in their friendship, but they have since reconciled and chosen not to mention the incident again.

🎶
Peggy Carter Agent Carter

"I didn't ask him for a lot of details about my future. I'd rather find
out for myself."

Peggy is without a doubt one of Clara's role models, and an important confidante. She was the first person Clara went to when she returned sans pulse, and she has been entrusted with important details should Clara ever lose herself. An immensely classy and brave lady, Peggy is esentially #goals.

For a brief time, the Doctor was under the incorrect assumption that Clara and Peggy were dating. While this was patently untrue, and Peggy's romantic interest is limited to men, Clara can't help but feel a little proud at the thought.

🎶
Bela Talbot Supernatural

"It feels strange to talk about making plans in a world that isn't
even our own."

A charming and mysterious antiques dealer. The two met over the network in late 2015, but Clara's trip home and subsequent panic over her death greatly delayed any real-life flirting. They finally went on a New Years date some weeks later, and Clara tried to conceal the fact that she could no longer eat or drink due to her newfound physiology. It is perhaps due to this sense of nervousness that Clara failed to set up a second date. When she met Cosima later in the year, she came right out with the truth, wanting to avoid the same kind of discomfort.
